A Feminist, Sustainable Wedding

Today's bride thoughtfully planned and styled her wedding with sustainability at its heart, and I think you're getting some great ideas from her. Oh, as well as in terms of a show-stopping venue, what about Hackney Round Chapel?

The bride styled her cute pixie crop herself and asked her housemate to use her radiant makeup, really enhancing her eyes.

Having known one another since 2015, Rowan and Ellie became a couple 2 yrs ago and, nine months later, were engaged.

"Rowan first drove me for an event called SHIFT in 2015. We got on well but there have been no sparks. Each year we'd bump into each other and have a very intense, deep conversation but little else would follow, until Summer 2018 when Rowan drove me right down to SHIFT then one was different. We decided to go for breakfast a couple of weeks later and also have been inseparable since."

Like so many women, Ellie wanted her bridesmaids to feel true to themselves and wear something which they’d re-wear.

"They all wore black bridesmaid dresses or jumpsuits that suited their figure, shape, and private style. I wanted these phones to wear something they already had or buy they would wear again."

"My girls are so gorgeous and unique. So, I said wear dangly earrings, bold lipstick and shoes of your liking. One of my bridesmaids wore her red cowboy boots! I loved it."

"Lewis was the photographer at our friend's wedding in September and we just fell deeply in love with his photographs. I particularly love his journalistic style and also the way he captures movement and moments. The whole wedding album feels alive and offer."

As well as assembling the bride's wonderful, seasonal bouquet of crimson and cream flowers, Ellie's friend Hannah, created this whimsical flower crown.

"My amazing friend Hannah helped me with a flower crown for my hen-do a couple of weeks before the marriage and both of us decided it would function as the perfect method to complete the marriage outfit, so she helped me with another one! I am still enthusiastic about it."

Just like Ellie, Rowan was keen to wear something which would continue for many years so he decided on a warm, fitted suit along with shoes, a coat available, and a quirky bowtie.

"I walked on the aisle to 'The Beatitudes' played through the Kronos Quartet. It's an item from among my favorite Italian films, 'The Great Beauty' also it always moves me. The first time I played it to Rowan he loved it too."

Between the ceremony and reception, the pair took towards the East London streets for many fantastically atmospheric couple shots.

Such an impressive venue, it might be hard to beat the ambiance of Saint James, however, the Round Chapel needs to be one of the most unexpectedly wonderful venues in East London, especially using the simple fairy lights and foliage that the pair added.

"We kept decor easy and affordable with foliage and tall candles in hurricane glasses. Each table was named following a cafe or bar that people love. I printed off Polaroid-style pictures of people at each of these as table signs."

Words of Wedded Wisdom

"Being married is a lot better than the marriage day itself. I loved every minute of ours but I'm glad I didn't put an excessive amount of weight onto it being 'the best day of my life. It was special, fun, happy, and glorious when you are husband and wife far exceeds everything."
